by Benjamin May 13,2025

With the exciting March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria*, fans can now dive into the romance questline of the newly unlocked character, Caldarus. This guide provides a comprehensive look at how to unlock his romance, details on his events, and tips on his gift preferences to help you foster a deeper connection with this enigmatic dragon.

How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To embark on a romantic journey with Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. This requires offering four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Upon completing the offering, a dramatic cutscene unfolds where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or face being sealed with the Scroll. As your health depletes, Caldarus heroically intervenes, transforming into his human form, gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell, and retreating to the Deep Woods. After this, you can engage in daily conversations and gift-giving with him, similar to other romanceable NPCs in *Fields of Mistria*.

Post-Fire Seal, Caldarus can be found exclusively at his temple in the Deep Woods, accessible only after using the Dragon’s Breath spell to unlock the area permanently on your map.

Upon unlocking Caldarus as a romanceable character in the March 2025 update, he starts with a heart level of six, which is currently the maximum. As of now, there are no additional heart events for Caldarus, but future updates promise more content. Currently, you can experience a few cutscenes with him. The first is a dream sequence at the game's start, introducing Mistria's magical elements and gameplay mechanics. The second occurs after breaking the Fire Seal, where Caldarus saves you and reveals his human form, then retreats to his temple to regain strength.

A significant addition in the March 2025 update is the ability to go on a *real* date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival, which takes place on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in *Fields of Mistria*, offering a chance to take a romanceable NPC with a heart level of four or higher on a date to the Summit. With Caldarus starting at six hearts, you can automatically invite him. To do so, gift him a Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28, and meet up afterward to confirm your readiness to start the event, triggering a special cutscene.

During the festival, Caldarus expresses gratitude for the invitation and shares insights into the stars and the ancient Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. Your dialogue choices explore themes of soul connections and the nature of relationships, with Caldarus hinting at deeper narratives and past lives. As the night progresses, he suggests continuing the evening at his temple, watching the stars together.
