Avatar: New Post-Korra Series, Seven Havens, In Development

by Benjamin Feb 25,2025

Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios unveil a new chapter in the Avatar universe: Avatar: Seven Havens. This exciting announcement coincides with the franchise's 20th anniversary, a testament to its enduring popularity.

Created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the masterminds behind the original Avatar: The Last Airbender, Seven Havens will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series. The story centers on a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Korra, navigating a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. Unlike her predecessors, this Avatar is perceived as a harbinger of destruction, not salvation. Hunted by both human and spirit foes, she and her twin sibling must unravel their enigmatic past to safeguard the Seven Havens before societal collapse.

DiMartino and Konietzko expressed their astonishment at the continued expansion of the Avatar world, highlighting the new series' blend of fantasy, mystery, and a fresh roster of captivating characters.

The series will be structured into two 13-episode seasons, "Book 1" and "Book 2." Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi join DiMartino and Konietzko as executive producers. Casting details remain undisclosed.

Seven Havens marks the inaugural mainline television series from Avatar Studios, which is also developing a feature-length animated film centered on an older Aang. This film is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026.

The 20th-anniversary celebration extends beyond Seven Havens, encompassing a diverse range of merchandise, including books, comics, concerts, toys, and a Roblox game.
