Ubisoft has laid out an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a slew of new features to enhance the gaming experience. These updates include a new game+ mode, additional difficulty settings, more story content, and other enhancements that fans eagerly anticipate.
In a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video, Ubisoft detailed its plans for 2025, spotlighting the schedule for May and June. This roadmap showcases the company's commitment to keeping players engaged through a series of free updates throughout the year.
The rollout begins in early May with "The Works of Luis Frois," the first of several free story add-ons. Alongside this, players can expect a Codex update, various quality-of-life improvements, significant parkour enhancements, and a photo mode update. These updates reflect Ubisoft's ongoing effort to incorporate community feedback into the development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Community developer Daniel St. Germain emphasized the importance of player feedback in today's video, stating, "Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released. Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms."
In June, another free story drop will be released, accompanied by more challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear during cutscenes. These changes are highly anticipated by the community, and Ubisoft has promised even more features like new game+ support, additional story content, and special collaborations before the year ends.
The most anticipated addition on the roadmap is the first major DLC expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." Scheduled for release later in the year, this 10-hour journey will introduce new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for characters Naoe and Yasuke to explore. While pricing details remain undisclosed, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered the game before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, marking the series' much-anticipated entry into Feudal Japan. The game has already earned its place among our list of the best games of 2025 so far and stands out as the best-selling game of last month.
