Assassin's Creed Shadows Completion Time Revealed
Primary Storyline Estimated at 30-40 Hours

Players can expect Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows) to offer 30-40 hours of main story gameplay. During AC Shadows' Kyoto showcase event, Genki Gamer interviewed Creative Director Jonathan Dumont about the game's scope.
Dumont confirmed that completing the main narrative will take most players 30-40 hours, alongside over 80 hours of optional side content. The development team is actively considering implementing New Game+ alongside other game modes based on player feedback. This feature has been highly anticipated since AC Valhalla notably omitted New Game+, leaving many fans disappointed.
The creative director highlighted Shadows' innovative systems including dynamic seasons and weather, fresh gameplay mechanics, an expanded customizable Hideout, and more. The title will also introduce a new Animus narrative thread connecting future Assassin's Creed projects.
Long-Awaited Japanese Setting Realized

Dumont explained that creating a Japan-based Assassin's Creed game represented a dream project for the development team. He emphasized how Japan's natural landscapes demanded advanced movement mechanics, with current technology finally allowing proper realization alongside compelling storytelling.
The game draws inspiration from iconic Japanese cinema including 13 Assassins, Sekigahara, Zatoichi, and Kurosawa films while maintaining the franchise's unique identity. Dumont acknowledged community discussions surrounding Yasuke's inclusion as a historic black samurai – a subject of historical debate in Japan – while reaffirming the team's commitment to delivering an exceptional gaming experience that honors Japanese culture.
Exploring the Hideout Feature
Izumi Settsu Secret Valley Location

AC Shadows' official website recently revealed details about its Hideout system, located in Izumi Settsu province's secret valley. This customizable base will serve as players' headquarters while establishing the Brotherhood presence.
Systems Associate Director Dany described the Hideout as an ambitious evolution: "Following past bases like fortresses, villas, and pirate coves, we needed significant innovation." Players receive expansive land parcels to freely customize with structures, paths, vegetation, and decorative elements – all unlocking progressively throughout gameplay to reflect personal journeys.
Dynamic Community Interactions

The Hideout will host numerous allies with unique backgrounds and personal quests. These characters naturally inhabit appropriate facilities - warriors training in dojos or socializing in sake halls, creating organic interactions that bring the space to life.
"Centralizing our allies enables richer character development," Dany explained, noting how multinational writing teams crafted spontaneous dialogues between characters. These personalized moments help establish the Hideout as the vibrant heart of players' Brotherhood network.
With these detailed systems and mechanics, Assassin's Creed Shadows aims to deliver an authentic Japanese experience infused with franchise hallmarks when it launches March 20, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
