From Desmond Miles stepping into the Animus as Altaïr in 2007 to exploring 16th-century Japan with Naoe and Yasuke, the series has come a long way. In my opinion, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remains the pinnacle of the series. The blend of island exploration, ship combat, and a vibrant cast makes it the ultimate AC experience. It shares the S-tier with Assassin’s Creed 2, the game that truly launched the series into the spotlight. Valhalla sits comfortably in the A-tier, perhaps surprisingly to some, but I adored the Viking-themed combat and the Orlog minigame. Joining it is Unity, whose breathtaking recreation of French Revolution-era Paris still impresses a decade on.
