The Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC Is Now Available for $2,399

by Stella May 13,2025

Starting today, Dell is offering a fantastic deal on the Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC, equipped with the cutting-edge GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, for just $2,399.99 shipped. This price point represents one of the best deals available for an RTX 5080-equipped prebuilt system, especially considering the steady price increases we've seen from other brands since the RTX 50 series launch in January. At Dell, the next cheapest option for an RTX 5080 PC is over $4,000. And if you're considering building your own PC, good luck finding a standalone RTX 5080 GPU without spending as much as you would on this entire system.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU and a GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, along with 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 7 265F Meteor Lake CPU features a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz, 20 cores, and a 30MB cache. It's cooled efficiently by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler, and the system is powered by a robust 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 5080 is one of the three new Blackwell graphics cards that have been released, and they're notoriously hard to find. In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie noted that "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not be a significant upgrade – it doesn't offer a substantial performance increase over the RTX 4080. However, the extra frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do enhance the visual experience in supported games. For gamers with older graphics cards looking for a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 is an excellent choice, particularly if you're keen on leveraging Nvidia’s AI technologies."

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design is similar to the 2024 R16 model but includes minor aesthetic and cooling updates, as well as refreshed components. The I/O panel has been repositioned to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now covers the entire side panel, eliminating side panel vents. Air intakes are now located at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that helps keep the interior cleaner. The internal components have been updated with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the new generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

RTX 5080 and 5090 GPUs Are Sold Out Everywhere

The initial wave of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards sold out within the first hour of preorders. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, the highest-end GPUs in the lineup, were released first, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti in February. Prebuilt gaming PCs featuring these GPUs are also in short supply, with many options either sold out, increased in price, or facing extended delivery delays.
