According to Remedy Entertainment's annual report, the much-anticipated sequel, Control 2, has triumphantly cleared the concept validation stage and is now in full production. This milestone marks a significant step forward, signaling that the project is on track and progressing smoothly.
In addition to Control 2, two other exciting projects are actively being developed: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. Just a year ago, these titles were in the preliminary stages of production, but they have now advanced to the next phase of development. However, it's worth noting that the project Kestrel, which was developed in partnership with Tencent, has been dropped from Remedy's lineup. It was canceled back in May of last year.
All of these projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary Northlight engine, which has already demonstrated its prowess in titles like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy creations.
As for the financial aspect, Control 2 carries an estimated budget of 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by Remedy and is slated for release on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC platforms. On the other hand, FBC: Firebreak has a slightly smaller budget of 30 million euros. This title will be accessible through PlayStation and Xbox subscription services at launch, and will also be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The budget details for the remakes of Max Payne 1+2 remain under wraps, but it's confirmed that they will be AAA-level productions. Both development and marketing for these remakes are fully funded by Rockstar Games, ensuring a high-quality revival of these classic titles.
