by Olivia Mar 01,2025

Following months of speculation and leaks, Pokémon Champions, a new multiplayer battle-focused Pokémon game, has been officially unveiled. Developed collaboratively by Game Freak and The Pokémon Works (a joint venture between The Pokémon Company and ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl), this title centers around competitive Pokémon battles.

The trailer showcased the game's utilization of both Mega Evolution and Terastalization, hinting at a broad selection of Pokémon across various generations.

PlayCrucially, Pokémon Champions will integrate with Pokémon Home, enabling players to transfer Pokémon from previous games, finally providing a purpose for those extensive collections gathering digital dust.

Currently in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, Pokémon Champions lacks a confirmed release date. However, it's been confirmed that Latin American Spanish will be among the supported languages at launch.

Interestingly, Pokémon Champions appears to be the same game that leaked last year as "Pokémon Synapse," part of the significant "Freak Leak" which revealed a wealth of Game Freak's internal information. While initial speculation compared it to Splatoon, the official reveal clarifies its core focus on competitive Pokémon battles.
