On January 17, 2025, the Pokémon TCG Pocket team announced details about its upcoming trading feature on Twitter (X). Trading will initially be limited to friends with cards of matching rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards (Special Illustration Rare, Immersive, and Crown Rares) will not be tradable. A consumable item, similar to Stardust in Pokémon GO, will facilitate trades.
Initially, only certain cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs will be eligible for trading, with plans to expand the selection based on player feedback and game balance. A new booster pack is also teased for release in January 2025.
