Netflix is partnering with the creators of the acclaimed video game Sifu to bring its action-packed story to the silver screen. First announced in 2022, and initially developed by Story Kitchen and Sloclap (the game's developer), the film adaptation has now expanded its production team, according to Deadline.

The project has added T.S. Nowlin, screenwriter for the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad, previously involved in adapting Sifu's narrative, his current role remains unconfirmed.
Adding further weight to the production, Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick films, and his company 87Eleven Entertainment will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also currently working on the Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation.
Sifu, released in 2022, achieved immense success, selling over one million copies in its first three weeks. The game centers on a young martial artist seeking revenge for their master's assassination. Using a mystical pendant that allows resurrection but accelerates aging, the protagonist faces perilous challenges in their quest for justice.
