Marvel Rivals: Mastering Mister Fantastic, the Stretchy Strategist

Marvel Rivals offers a thrilling hero-shooter experience, boasting diverse characters and stunning visuals. As the game evolves, new heroes continually join the fray, and Season 1 introduces iconic Fantastic Four members, including the versatile Mister Fantastic.

Mister Fantastic is classified as a duelist, excelling at rapid movement and significant damage contribution. His unique ability to grapple and pull himself towards allies or enemies is central to his gameplay. His introduction is sure to impact the game's meta, altering strategies across various maps.

Mister Fantastic's Primary Attack

Effective duelists require a strong primary attack, and Mister Fantastic's Stretch Punch delivers. While lacking a secondary attack, its versatility is surprising. This three-hit combo uses a single fist for the first two strikes, culminating in a powerful two-handed blow.

The Stretch Punch's unique feature is its damage over time. The extended arm continues to inflict damage as it's dragged through enemies, affecting multiple targets with area-of-effect damage. This compares favorably to other heroes with multi-target primary attacks, such as Storm's Wind Blade.

Mister Fantastic's Abilities

Mister Fantastic possesses a range of abilities, best explored in the training room. Each ability contributes to his passive, significantly boosting his damage output. A fully charged passive is a formidable force. Key stats to monitor include his health and Elasticity.

Mister Fantastic starts with 350 health, but his shields enhance his survivability beyond typical duelists. Elasticity, displayed near the crosshair, is crucial. Basic attacks generate 5 Elasticity each, aiming for 100 as quickly as possible. He has a 3-star difficulty rating, making him challenging for beginners but accessible to all players.

Reflexive Rubber

  • Active Ability
  • 12-second duration

Mister Fantastic transforms into a rectangular shape, absorbing all incoming damage. Upon expiration, he unleashes the stored damage in the direction of the player's reticle.

Flexible Elongation

  • Active Ability
  • 3-second duration
  • Generates 30 Elasticity

This ability grants a shield, boosting health from 350 to 425. He pulls himself towards the target, dealing damage to enemies or providing a shield to allies. This offers tactical flexibility, allowing for both offensive and defensive plays. The ability has two charges.

Distended Grip

  • Active Ability
  • 6-second duration
  • Generates 30 Elasticity

Distended Grip allows Mister Fantastic to grapple a target, offering three options: Dash (pulls him closer without a shield), Impact (deals damage), and a double grapple/slam. Grappling a second enemy near the first allows a powerful slam attack, damaging both targets.

Wedded Harmony

  • Team-Up Ability (requires Invisible Woman)
  • 20-second duration

This ability heals Mister Fantastic for any lost health (no shield granted). It's particularly useful for recovering between shield uses, further increasing his survivability.

Elastic Strength

  • Passive Ability

Each ability use builds Elasticity, increasing damage output. At maximum Elasticity, Mister Fantastic undergoes a Hulk-like transformation, gaining significant damage and a substantial shield. The shield decays after the transformation ends. No other abilities are available during this inflated state.

Brainiac Bounce

  • Ultimate Ability

Mister Fantastic leaps and crashes down, dealing area-of-effect damage, then bounces to repeat the attack multiple times. This is devastating against clustered enemies.

Tips for Playing Mister Fantastic

Mister Fantastic's damage mitigation and shield generation make him surprisingly tanky.

Flexible Reflection

Combining Flexible Elongation and Reflexive Rubber provides both shields for the player and an ally, while simultaneously tanking enemy attacks before unleashing stored damage.

Rushing Reflexive Rubber

While Reflexive Rubber contributes to Elastic Strength, using it strategically even without needing the passive can maximize his inflated state, boosting both objective presence and team damage. Stacking shields from Flexible Elongation before inflating can result in a massive 950 health pool.
