Crunchyroll's Android app now features Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player card shop management game. Initially launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has made its way to consoles and now mobile devices via Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll members can download it for free.
The Kardboard Kings Experience:
Players step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his card-collecting father's shop and the legacy of the Warlock card game. His business partner? Giuseppe, a surprisingly shrewd cockatoo with a talent for deals. Located by the seaside, the shop presents the challenge of satisfying customers – honestly or otherwise!
The game's charm lies in its witty characters, references to other card games and anime, and over 100 uniquely illustrated cards, including shiny variations.
Gameplay Mechanics:
The core gameplay revolves around the classic "buy low, sell high" principle, but with added layers of complexity. Card conditions, set rarities, foil finishes, and ability popularity all impact value.
Kardboard Kings also includes a roguelite deck-building mode on Card Game Island, where players face tough opponents, host tournaments, and manage inventory through booster pack parties and sales.
