Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. While sprinting offers decent speed, traversing vast battlefields to rescue officers and secure victory often necessitates faster travel.
This is where your mount comes in, summonable at any time in the overworld or during battles. Engage in combat from horseback for swift hit-and-run tactics. Here's how to acquire your first horse, enhance its abilities, and swap between different steeds.
How To Obtain Your First Steed in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
A free horse awaits in Chapter 1! After completing the "Test Of Zheng Fei" battle, a merchant appears in the overworld on your route to the Battle Of Guangzong. Locate him northeast of Wan Castle, before reaching the camp. He stands beside his horse. Simply speak to him to receive your first mount; it's automatically equipped.
Summon your horse by pressing down on the left joystick (console) or V (keyboard).
Leveling Up Your Mount in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your horse gains experience points (XP) based on completed missions, even if unused during the mission itself. However, skirmishes do not award XP. Missions, indicated by a red diamond with a soldier icon, offer medium-length battles ideal for earning XP. The XP earned depends on battle duration and your usage of the horse, including charging into enemies. Leveling up unlocks unique buffs for each horse at specific level intervals.
Switching Mounts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your initial mount is automatically equipped, but others are available. Access the Battle Preparation menu; the mount selection is the last option on the left. Each horse boasts unique advantages, with some inherently faster or more powerful. Maximize a region's peace level to unlock new steeds as rewards at nearby waypoints.
