WB Reportedly Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC

by Joshua Apr 13,2025

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has decided to cancel an unannounced paid DLC for the popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year, accompanied by a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the project was reportedly scrapped this week due to concerns that the content volume did not justify the intended price point. Warner Bros. did not respond to Bloomberg's request for a comment on the matter.

This cancellation comes at a time when Warner Bros. is undergoing significant restructuring within its gaming division, driven by ongoing financial challenges. Earlier this year, the company made the tough decision to cancel its anticipated Wonder Woman game and shut down the studio behind it, Monolith Productions. Additionally, WB San Diego and the studio responsible for MultiVersus, Player First Games, faced similar fates. The company also implemented layoffs at Rocksteady Studios as recently as last September.

Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the strategic importance of Hogwarts Legacy and the broader Harry Potter franchise. The company has publicly stated that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is among its top priorities, reflecting a focus on investing in fewer but more significant franchises. The original game has been a massive success, selling over 30 million copies worldwide.
