Ubisoft Insists Assassin's Creed Shadows Preorders are 'Tracking Solidly,' In Line With Odyssey

Ubisoft confidently reports strong preorder numbers for the upcoming open-world adventure, Assassin's Creed Mirage, despite its challenging development and marketing journey. Their latest financial report indicates preorders are tracking similarly to Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the franchise's second most successful title.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot expressed unwavering confidence, stating the company is fully focused on Assassin's Creed Mirage's March 20th launch. He highlighted positive early previews praising the narrative, immersive experience, and the dual protagonist approach's complementary gameplay. Guillemot commended the development team's dedication to delivering the franchise's most ambitious installment yet.

Originally slated for a November release, Assassin's Creed Mirage faced delays, first to February 14th, and then to its current March 20th launch date. The game carries significant weight for Ubisoft, representing the long-awaited Japan-set entry and the first full Assassin's Creed title since 2020. Its success is crucial for the publisher following recent underperforming titles and investor concerns.

The game's promotional period has been less than ideal, with the development team issuing apologies for inaccuracies in its depiction of Japan and unauthorized use of a historical recreation group's flag. Further controversy arose when PureArts removed an Assassin's Creed Mirage statue due to its "insensitive" design. These setbacks, coupled with the delays, have understandably fueled fan impatience.
