The Bloodmoon Island, shrouded in mystery, lies to the north of Reaper's Coast. Encircled by the deadly Deathfog and disconnected from the mainland due to a destroyed bridge, reaching this island seems daunting. However, exploring Bloodmoon Island is crucial as it enriches the main storyline and unlocks a variety of side quests. Yet, the game offers few clues on navigating the Deathfog to reach the island, often leaving players searching Reaper's Coast for hints. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to reach Bloodmoon Island and further your journey in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

Bloodmoon Island was once accessible from Reaper's Coast via a bridge, now broken, located northeast of Cloisterwood and near the haunts of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. To proceed, cast Spirit Vision to unveil the broken segments of the bridge, which are also booby-trapped, adding a layer of challenge to your crossing. However, with the right tools and skills, traversing this spectral bridge becomes manageable:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Obtainable early in the game, these gloves allow teleportation without the need for the skill itself. Although time-consuming, you can teleport each party member across the bridge.

  2. Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, crucial for crossing the bridge. However, not all party members may possess these skills, hence the next strategy becomes useful.

  3. Teleporter Pyramids: With four pyramids available in the game, you'll need two to cross the bridge. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory, have them use translocation skills to cross, and then the rest of the party can warp to their location.

  4. Fast Travel: A member with translocation skills can cross the bridge, discover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel directly to the island.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

While the above methods provide straightforward access to Bloodmoon Island, parties including Fane have an additional option. As an undead character, Fane is immune to the Deathfog. A pier northwest of Cloisterwood hosts an undead ferryman who offers passage across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this journey is fatal for all but Fane. If Fane travels alone, he reaches the island safely, discovers the waypoint, and the rest of the party can fast travel to join him.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

For parties without Fane, using the ferry still involves the Teleporter Pyramids:

  1. Unchain the party and equip one companion with a pyramid before they board the ferry.
  2. The ferry journey will result in the companion's death upon reaching Bloodmoon Island.
  3. The remaining party members can then use the second pyramid to warp to the deceased companion's location.
  4. Use a resurrection spell or scroll to revive the fallen companion.

Without Fane, crossing via the bridge remains the safest and quickest route to Bloodmoon Island.

It's advisable not to attack the Undead Ferryman, as he can retaliate with a lethal Deathfog spell. If you choose to engage, ensure to quick save first. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
