Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Sleep mobile game's development is shifting from Select Button to Pokémon Works, a newly established Pokémon subsidiary. This change was announced within the Japanese version of the Pokémon Sleep app.
Select Button, the original developer, will gradually hand over development and future updates to Pokémon Works. The announcement, translated from Japanese, states that development and operation were previously shared between Select Button and The Pokémon Company. The impact on the global version of the game remains unclear, as the news isn't yet reflected in the global app's news section.
Pokémon Works, founded earlier this year by The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd., is a relatively new entity. Its representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, describes the company as aiming to create experiences that make Pokémon feel more real and accessible. The company's past projects include contributions to Pokémon HOME. Their shared location in Shinjuku, Tokyo, with ILCA (the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl) suggests potential collaborative opportunities. While Pokémon Works' future plans for Pokémon Sleep are still unknown, the transition signifies a new chapter in the game's development.
