Palworld 0.5.0 Update: Crossplay, Blueprints, Photo Mode Added

by Carter Apr 19,2025

Palworld, the sensation that has captivated over 32 million players since its early access launch in January 2024, has just rolled out a significant update with version 0.5.0. This update introduces crossplay functionality across all platforms, allowing players to connect and enjoy the game together regardless of their chosen device. Alongside crossplay, players can now utilize the new Global Palbox feature, which enables the storage and transfer of Pal data between different worlds. This is complemented by the introduction of the Dimensional Pal Storage, a new storage system boasting ten times the capacity of the regular Palbox. Not only can guild members access this expanded storage, but it can also be set to private for personal use, adding a layer of versatility and convenience.

The update also brings a host of other exciting features. Players can now change their character's appearance without affecting armor stats thanks to the new Cosmetic Armour System, accessible via the Antique Dresser. A new Photo Mode allows for capturing stunning in-game screenshots by hiding the UI and freely moving the camera. The Drafting Table feature lets players upgrade low-rarity blueprints into higher-rarity ones, enhancing the crafting system's depth. Additionally, dedicated servers are now available for Mac users, expanding the game's accessibility.

Developer Pocketpair is also looking ahead, with plans to add dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version in the future. They have outlined a content roadmap for 2025, promising an "ending scenario" and more new content for Palworld's growing community. The game, initially launched on Steam for $30 and simultaneously on Xbox and PC through Game Pass, has seen unprecedented success, breaking sales and concurrent player records. Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, admitted the launch was so massive that the studio struggled to handle the profits. In response, they swiftly signed a deal with Sony to form Palworld Entertainment, aiming to expand the IP and bring the game to PS5.

However, Palworld's success has not been without challenges. The game faces a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, alleging infringement on multiple patent rights. Pocketpair has responded by identifying the patents in question and making adjustments to how players summon Pals within the game. The studio remains committed to defending its position in court against these allegations.
