Take-Two Interactive, the parent company behind the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6, has expressed strong confidence in the game's targeted release window of Fall 2025. Dive into the details about GTA 6's release schedule and the thriving success of other Take-Two Interactive titles.
Take-Two Interactive Poised for a Remarkable Year
GTA 6 Release Window Still Set for Fall 2025
During the Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, reaffirmed the company's commitment to releasing GTA 6 in Fall 2025. Despite this confidence, Zelnick acknowledged the inherent risks in game development, stating, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things." He remained optimistic, however, expressing that the team "feels really good about it" regarding the projected timeline. Zelnick emphasized Rockstar's pursuit of perfection and the competitive landscape, saying, "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
Take-Two Interactive's 2025 Game Releases
Zelnick highlighted the significant year ahead for Take-Two Interactive, with multiple game releases planned for 2025. He noted, "Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as Sid Meier’s Civilization VII launched in Early Access today, with the official launch on February 11th, and we also plan to release Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4 before year-end." He expressed optimism about the commercial potential of these titles, stating, "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term." The company is also highly confident in achieving record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.
GTA 5's Continued Success
The GTA franchise remains a cornerstone for Take-Two Interactive, with GTA 5 selling over 210 million units worldwide to date. GTA Online saw a successful quarter with its holiday update, "Agents of Sabotage," and GTA+, the membership program for GTA Online, showed a 10% year-to-year growth in reach.
Other titles from Take-Two Interactive also performed exceptionally well in the third quarter. NBA 2K25 sold over 7 million units, with increased player engagement reflected in a 30% rise in Recurrent Consumer Spending, nearly 20% increase in Daily Active Users, and nearly 10% increase in Monthly Active Users. Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to expand its audience, with over 70 million units sold to date. The game's online component, Red Dead Online, has been bolstered by regular updates, including a fan-favorite Halloween pass, leading to its highest level of concurrent players on Steam at 99,993, according to SteamDB.
GTA 5 Actor Clarifies Stance on Character
Rumors have circulated that Steven Ogg, the actor behind Trevor in GTA 5, dislikes being associated with the character. In an interview on the Inside You podcast, Ogg set the record straight, explaining, "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like meh." He emphasized his appreciation for Trevor, saying, "He's a great character. He's awesome. I still see [Fonteno, Franklin's actor] and Ned [Luke, Michael's actor], we're friends. We were just doing a Comic Con this past weekend."
In a separate interview with Screen Rant, Ogg playfully suggested Trevor could appear in GTA 6 just to be killed off at the start, but he confirmed he has not recorded any lines for GTA 6 and is unaware of any plans for Trevor's return.
GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, though no specific date has been announced. Stay tuned to our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates on the game.
