Fortnite's Revamped Quest UI Faces Backlash
Epic Games' recent Fortnite update, including a significant quest UI redesign, has sparked considerable player discontent. The new UI organizes quests into collapsible blocks and submenus, a change many find cumbersome and time-consuming, particularly during gameplay where quick access to quests is crucial. This contrasts with the generally positive reception of other recent additions, such as the expanded pickaxe options derived from Fortnite Festival instruments.
Following the Winterfest event, which featured collaborations with notable celebrities, Chapter 6 Season 1 introduced a new map and revamped movement system. New game modes like Ballistic, Fortnite OG, and LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life further enhanced the gameplay experience. However, the January 14th update's UI overhaul has overshadowed these positive changes for a significant portion of the player base.
The redesigned quest system, while initially appearing clean, has proven frustrating due to its nested submenus. While previously players could access quests for different modes directly from the lobby, the new system requires navigating multiple menus, a significant drawback during high-pressure gameplay situations. Players have highlighted the added time spent in menus as a detriment, especially while attempting time-sensitive quests like those related to the recent Godzilla event.
Despite the negative feedback regarding the quest UI, the integration of Fortnite Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings has been well-received, offering players expanded cosmetic customization options. While the UI change remains a point of contention, the overall sentiment towards Fortnite remains largely positive, with players anticipating future updates.
