Charlie Cox's successful transition from Netflix's Daredevil to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has sparked speculation about potential comebacks for other members of The Defenders. Finn Jones, who portrayed Danny Rand in the Netflix series Iron Fist, has expressed his eagerness to return to the role. Jones last appeared as Iron Fist in Season 2 of the series and in the crossover event, The Defenders, where he teamed up with Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones.
Despite the less favorable reception to Jones' portrayal of Iron Fist compared to other Defenders, the integration of Daredevil into the MCU has reignited hopes for a revival of the team. Recent reports suggest that Marvel is "exploring" the possibility of bringing back The Defenders.
At the LaConve anime convention in Monterrey, NL, Mexico, Jones addressed the criticism he faced, acknowledging the fans' mixed feelings about his return. He stated, "There is a willingness for the fans to see that happen. There’s a lot of willingness for the fans to see that not happen as well. I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is like, give me a f***ing chance, man. I’m here and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen."
Jones' comments were shared widely on social media, highlighting his determination to redeem his portrayal of Iron Fist.
With Daredevil: Born Again serving as a direct continuation of the Netflix series and officially part of the MCU canon, alongside other former Netflix shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage now streaming on Disney+, the possibility of other Defenders making a comeback seems more tangible. Jon Bernthal's Punisher, another character from the Netflix universe, is also set to appear in Daredevil: Born Again, further blurring the lines between the Netflix shows and the broader MCU.
