Recent Windows 11 Update Disrupts Assassin's Creed Gameplay; Patches Now Available

Following the Windows 11 24H2 update, several Assassin's Creed players encountered game launch and functionality issues. Fortunately, Ubisoft has released patches addressing these problems for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. These updates are automatically applied via Steam, requiring approximately 230 MB and 500 MB of storage space, respectively.

However, not all Ubisoft titles have received a fix. Reports persist regarding issues with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which may exhibit unresponsiveness or complete failure to launch. While previous patches mitigated problems for games like Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, some performance issues may remain. Players are advised to delay updating to Windows 11 24H2 until a patch for Assassin's Creed Odyssey is released.

The root cause of the incompatibility between the Windows 11 24H2 update and these Ubisoft games remains unclear. The problem was initially flagged five months before the update's official release, yet a comprehensive fix wasn't implemented prior to rollout. This is particularly concerning given Microsoft's encouragement for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. Despite this, the majority of games appear unaffected by the update.
