Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward
Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions offer shortcuts to identifying ghosts, but at a cost. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, and this guide details its use and inherent risks.
Utilizing the Voodoo Doll
The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. Each of its ten pins, when inserted, increases the likelihood of the ghost manifesting evidence like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprints. This is particularly useful for elusive or inactive ghosts.
However, each pin insertion carries a sanity penalty: 5% per pin, totaling 50% if all pins are used. This significantly increases the risk of a ghost hunt.
The critical risk lies in the heart pin. Inserting it triggers an immediate, extended Cursed Hunt (20 seconds longer than normal), dropping sanity by 10%. Pin placement is random, adding an element of chance.
Despite the risks, the potential evidence gained can outweigh the dangers, especially with proper preparation and team coordination.
Understanding Cursed Possessions
Cursed Possessions (or Cursed Objects) are high-risk, high-reward items found randomly across Phasmophobia maps (availability varies with difficulty and Challenge Mode). Unlike standard equipment, they directly influence ghost behavior but significantly endanger the player.
The game features seven Cursed Possessions:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
Only one spawns per contract (unless adjusted in Custom settings). Their use is entirely optional; no penalty exists for ignoring them.
