Top Sam Wilson Captain America Decks for Marvel Snap

Much like Hawkeye before him with Hawkeye Kate Bishop, Captain America is being outshone by his successor, Sam Wilson Captain America, who is headlining the February 2025 *Marvel Snap* season. Here are the best Sam Wilson Captain America decks in *Marvel Snap* to help you make the most of this powerful new card.

How Sam Wilson Captain America Works in Marvel Snap

Sam Wilson Captain America is a 2-cost, 3-power card with an ability that reads: "Game Start: Add Cap’s Shield to a random location. Ongoing: You can move Cap’s Shield." Cap’s Shield is a 1-cost, 1-power card with an ability that reads: "Ongoing: This can’t be destroyed. Give your Cap +2 Power when this moves to Cap’s location." The clever wording of the ability is intentional; it buffs both Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers versions of Captain America by 2 each time it lands in their lane, allowing Sam Wilson to quickly reach 7 power.

Sam Wilson is a versatile card, synergizing with 1-cost cards, move cards, and Ongoing decks, and it even avoids Killmonger. However, it can be countered by Red Guardian and Shadow King, which can remove all the buffs from Sam Wilson or Captain America.

Best Sam Wilson Captain America Decks in Marvel Snap

Sam Wilson is an excellent addition to the 2-cost slot in many decks. He fits well in a Wiccan list that dominates the meta, as well as in an Ongoing Zoo build. Here’s an example of the Wiccan list:

  • Quicksilver
  • Fenris Wolf
  • Hawkeye Kate Bishop
  • Iron Patriot
  • Sam Wilson Captain America
  • Red Guardian
  • Rocket Raccoon and Groot
  • Gladiator
  • Shang-Chi
  • Enchantress
  • Wiccan
  • Alioth

This deck is packed with Series 5 cards like Fenris Wolf, Hawkeye Kate Bishop, Iron Patriot, Red Guardian, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, Wiccan, and Alioth. If you don't have Fenris Wolf, Wiccan, and Alioth, you might want to skip this deck. However, if you do, you can replace Red Guardian and Rocket Raccoon and Groot with other 3-cost cards like Cosmo, Mobius M. Mobius, or even Galacta Daughter of Galactus.

Playing this deck requires patience, as you aim to counter your opponent after getting Wiccan off. The key is knowing when to keep or drop priority going into the final turn. Dropping priority allows you to hit multiple cards with Enchantress or Shang-Chi, while maintaining priority lets you snipe your opponent’s plays with Alioth. Sam Wilson provides a strong 2-cost card that can quickly scale while offering flexibility through locking out lanes.

For a different approach, consider adding Sam Wilson to Spectrum Zoo lists. Here’s an example:

  • Ant-Man
  • Squirrel Girl
  • Dazzler
  • Hawkeye Kate Bishop
  • Sam Wilson Captain America
  • Marvel Boy
  • Captain America
  • Caiera
  • Shanna the She-Devil
  • Kazar
  • Blue Marvel
  • Spectrum

This list includes Series 5 cards like Hawkeye Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caiera, and Gilgamesh, with Marvel Boy and Caiera being essential. You can swap in other cards that work well with Zoo, such as Nico Minoru, Cosmo, Gilgamesh, and Mockingbird.

Although Zoo-style lists have slightly fallen out of the meta, they remain strong. Marvel Boy can win games with Squirrel Girl on the board, and Caiera is crucial with the prevalence of Killmonger in mill-style lists. Sam Wilson adds flexibility to this deck, allowing Cap’s Shield to receive massive buffs from Kazar and Blue Marvel, and further enhanced by Spectrum, turning it into a 5-power, 1-cost card that buffs Sam Wilson and Captain America multiple times, while also boosting other Ongoing cards.

Is Sam Wilson Captain America Worth Buying the Season Pass?

If you enjoy Zoo-oriented lists, Sam Wilson is a worthwhile addition for the $9.99 season pass price. However, if Zoo decks aren't your style, there are other strong 2-cost cards like Jeff, Iron Patriot, and Hawkeye Kate Bishop that can be used in meta decks. Given the high cost of keeping up with *Marvel Snap*, it's understandable if you choose to skip Sam Wilson.

And those are the best Sam Wilson Captain America decks in *Marvel Snap*. Whether you're looking to dominate the meta or just have fun with new strategies, Sam Wilson offers exciting possibilities.
