Bethesda's space RPG Starfield gets a galactic upgrade with a new Creation mod: lightsabers! The recently released Starfield Creation Kit empowers players to share and enjoy creative content, including this exciting addition.
Starfield's expansive sci-fi universe has naturally attracted Star Wars-themed mods. While many mods already offer Mandalorian armor, Clone Wars attire, alien species, AT-STs, and even Boba Fett (a nod to the canceled Star Wars 1313), the introduction of the Creation Club has supercharged mod development.
The free "Immersive Sabers" mod by SomberKing introduces three distinct lightsabers – the Combatech Polaris, Old Earth Photonsaber, and Arboron Novabeam Saber – complete with authentic sound effects. Players can customize beam colors and enhance deflection abilities via workbench upgrades and a new perk. Interestingly, these lightsabers are not just player-exclusive; they can be looted from enemies, cleverly integrating them into Starfield's established weapon manufacturing system. SomberKing plans to add three more lightsabers from different in-game manufacturers in future updates.
This and other recent additions, including city maps and ship customization, have boosted Starfield's overall reception. However, Bethesda's paid mod system remains a point of contention, particularly the paywall for completing the Trackers Alliance questline. Despite this, upcoming content like the "Shattered Space" expansion and deeper exploration of the Va'ruun faction promises a bright future for Starfield players.
