Semine or Hashek in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Best Outcome for Necessary Evil Quest

by Sebastian May 06,2025

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with some of the game's most challenging moral choices. This guide will help you navigate the quest and make informed decisions about whether to side with Semine or Hashek.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough

After completing the "Back in the Saddle" quest, you can begin "Necessary Evil." Here, von Bergow assigns Hans and Henry to gather information from Nebakov Fortress and interrogate a prisoner. The interrogation's outcome is crucial as it will decide whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. This walkthrough focuses on choosing Semine, where the moral dilemmas are most intense.

Prisoner Interrogation Answers

During the interrogation, you must pass several Speech checks. You can either use intimidation or resort to torture to extract information. Here are the Speech check requirements:

  • "We’ll put in a good word for you." (20 Impression)
  • "Istvan and I are old acquaintances." (20 Impression)
  • "Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you." (17 Intimidation)

After the interrogation, you'll uncover the bandit leader's identity and Semine's involvement. When reporting back to von Bergow, you can either reveal Young Semine's collaboration with the bandits, leading to an attack on the town, or claim no local assistance was given to the bandits, redirecting the attack to Nebakov.

Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?

Choosing to attack Semine involves riding with the party to the town and facing more complex decisions concerning Hashek. Opting for Nebakov allows von Bergow to handle the bandits there, swiftly concluding the quest. Choosing Nebakov might be preferable if you wish to avoid the bloodshed in Semine, but morally, letting Semine off without consequences is questionable given their role in numerous deaths. I chose to attack Semine as it felt like the just decision, despite my familiarity with the town from earlier in the game.

Remember, if you decide to attack Semine, you must ride with the party; otherwise, the entire town could be massacred. Accompanying them gives you a chance to intervene and help Semine.

Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?

Before setting out, you'll have a conversation with Hashek, who is bent on revenge and a violent path against Semine. Upon arriving, you must choose between siding with Semine or Hashek. To support Hashek, select the dialogue option "Hashek is right." To side with Semine, choose "Olda deserves a trial."

I recommend siding with Semine. Although Semine erred in aiding the bandits, Hashek's desire to destroy everything would lead to more innocent casualties. As I played Henry as a morally upright character, it made sense to stop Hashek.

After defeating Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee, which will advance the quest and direct you to your next objective of informing von Bergow of the events.

If you side with Hashek, the entire town will be killed. You can also encounter Olda in the tower and decide whether to spare him or hand him over to Hashek.

Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?

The final part of the quest involves reporting back to von Bergow. You can either stay silent and let Hans handle the conversation or speak up about the events at Semine.

I suggest staying silent and letting Hans speak. Hans is more diplomatic, and this approach keeps both you and Hans in von Bergow's favor, leading to the planning of the next move against Nebakov.
