The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs featuring the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards is now available for purchase. Retail giants like Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have listed these new systems on their websites as of today. If you're in the market for a high-performance gaming setup, now is your best chance to snag one of these cutting-edge systems, as major OEMs such as Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) are not expected to release their own models until the end of the first quarter.
For those interested in purchasing standalone GPUs, this isn't the right place—head over to our comprehensive RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide to find out which retailers will have them in stock. Be aware that launch-day GPU stock often sells out within hours, if not minutes. Retailers have already issued warnings about potential inventory shortages, exacerbated by bots that snap up GPUs to resell at inflated prices.

Dell has launched its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs today, available in two configurations, both equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, starting at a hefty price of $4,449.99. Keep in mind that there might be a wait; Dell estimates delivery by April 22.
New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis
Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The design resembles the 2024 R16 model but includes minor aesthetic and cooling redesigns along with updated components. The I/O panel is now at the top of the case rather than the front, and the tempered glass window covers the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side panel vents. Air intakes are now positioned at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that typically results in a less dusty interior. All internal components have been refreshed, including a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the new generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Boutique PC Retailers with Built-to-Order RTX 50XX Systems
Some retailers are now offering the ability to add RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs to select systems through their configurators. New RTX 50-series GPU options are available at iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm. While these built-to-order systems provide flexibility, they can be quite costly and are typically less cost-effective than prebuilt options.
Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later
The major OEMs, Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo, won't be releasing their prebuilt gaming desktops with the new RTX 50-series GPUs until later in the year. At CES 2025, Dell showcased its Alienware Area-51 gaming PC, expected to launch with Nvidia's new GPUs sometime in the first quarter. HP plans to offer the RTX 5090 and 5080 in its flagship Omen 45L, likely in mid to late February. Lenovo has not yet announced when it will start adding these GPUs to its Legion Tower gaming desktops, leaving us without a specific launch date.
Our RTX 5090 FE and 5080 FE Reviews Are Live
Nvidia officially announced the 50-series GPUs at CES 2025, focusing on enhanced AI features rather than traditional raster performance improvements. DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. While these new GPUs offer a modest performance boost, opinions are divided on their value compared to the previous RTX 40-series cards.
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas noted, "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but with less force than previous generations. When it comes to traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 provides one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 really does deliver huge performance gains – you just have to make your peace with the fact that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie offered a similar perspective, stating, "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 doesn’t make a lot of sense – it just doesn’t have much of a performance lead over the RTX 4080, though the extra frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do make things look better in games that support it. However, for gamers with an older graphics card who want a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 absolutely provides – doubly so if you’re comfortable with Nvidia’s AI goodies."
