The long-awaited details of the Nintendo Switch 2 have finally been unveiled, and the specifications are more impressive than many anticipated. The new console supports up to 120fps and can deliver stunning visuals at 4K resolution when docked, promising an enhanced gaming experience.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to its predecessor, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. It features an LCD screen with HDR support and doubles the pixel count, allowing for a 1080p display at up to 120fps in handheld mode. When docked, the console can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR.The new Joy-Con 2 controllers are equipped with magnetic connections and can be detached using a release button located on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing the comfort when playing horizontally, and the left and right sticks have also been upsized. Additionally, the Joy-Con controllers now officially support mouse control, adding a new dimension to gameplay.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for various height settings. A top USB port is included, which can be used for external camera connectivity or to charge the system in tabletop mode.
