With the March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria*, the game introduces Essence Stones, a crucial new item that you'll need in abundance to enhance your daily tasks. Whether you're looking to find these stones or craft them, here's everything you need to know about Essence Stones and their uses in the game.

Following the latest update, Essence Stones can be discovered inside chests scattered throughout the mines of *Fields of Mistria*. I stumbled upon my first while scouring for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but these chests can pop up on any level across different biomes and floors. Be cautious, though—mimic enemies, which mimic chests, can deal damage if you interact with them.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. The smaller varieties are more common, but with a bit of persistence, you can find larger ones. If your search isn't fruitful, consider crafting them at the Stone Refinery, which you can build within the mines.

Crafting Essence Stones is made possible at the Stone Refinery, a new feature introduced with the March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria*. This refinery is part of a new story quest where Adeline enlists your help alongside Olric and Errol to build it within the mines.
To construct the Stone Refinery, you'll need the following materials:
- x200 Wood
- x400 Stone
- x5,000 Tesserae
Once the refinery is operational, you can craft Essence Stones of varying sizes, each requiring different amounts of Stone and Essence:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
The Stone Refinery isn't just for Essence Stones; it's also a hub for crafting common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items such as Obsidian and Diamond, which are essential for various projects and new builds around Mistria.
How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The March 2025 update brings the much-anticipated auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones for operation. Larger stones provide a more extended charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the longest duration.

The auto-petter mechanic is powered by the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. This statue automatically pets all animals inside daily, as long as an Essence Stone is in use. You'll find this rare item in a concealed cave next to Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible with the Dragon’s Breath spell. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues.
The sprinkler mechanic is facilitated by the Water Sprite Statue, which can be placed anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius, provided an Essence Stone is active. You can find this statue and its crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area. Again, access it using the Dragon’s Breath spell.
As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with updates from NPC Studio, expect Essence Stones to play an increasingly vital role in the game's mechanics.
