Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5’s Michael De Santa (Ned Luke) assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, even predicting a staggering first-day revenue. Read on to discover more about what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games: An Unexpected Twist for GTA 6
GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion First-Day Sales for GTA 6
Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage on YouTube, Luke expressed his excitement for the upcoming title, highlighting Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
He reassured fans, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5's impressive $800 million first-day earnings in 2013, confidently suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that figure. This confidence is echoed by DFC Intelligence, who project over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue within the first year, with a billion dollars stemming solely from pre-orders.
The Return of Familiar Faces: GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?
Luke also offered insight into the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and, possibly, GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online since its launch, unlike Trevor and Franklin.
Luke hinted at Michael's possible appearance in a speculated final GTA Online DLC or even a role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested a "passing the torch" scenario for Trevor (involving his demise), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6: Entering the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar Games animator, Mike York, suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York emphasized GTA 6's unique unpredictability as an open-world game. He highlighted the unforeseen possibilities that only emerge during extensive playtesting: "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
York believes the game is in its in-house testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras," suggesting a playable build exists and has likely undergone significant testing.
Since its initial trailer reveal in December 2023, Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped. While a Fall 2025 release was previously speculated based on Take-Two Interactive’s 2024 financial report, no official release date has been confirmed.
