Dune: Awakening, the eagerly awaited open-world survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's films, has been pushed back to a new release date of June 10, 2025. Developer Funcom announced the delay but also shared some exciting news for eager fans: those who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition will have the opportunity to start playing earlier on June 5.

Funcom cited feedback from their ongoing Persistent Closed Beta as the reason behind the delay, stating that the extra time would allow the team to "cook" the game further. This additional period will also enable them to incorporate changes and enhancements suggested during the beta phase. Moreover, the delay will facilitate a "large-scale beta weekend next month," offering even more players the chance to experience the game and provide valuable feedback.
While the delay might be disappointing for some fans eager to explore the sands of Arrakis, Funcom is hosting a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This stream will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, providing a deeper look into what players can expect.
Here at IGN, we're thrilled about Dune: Awakening. As we mentioned in our hands-on preview, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Duniverse, but after enduring bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch."
