Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Directed Mode Has Been Huge for Zombies

Activision confirms that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Directed mode has significantly boosted main quest completion rates among Zombies players. While many prioritize survival in the wave-based gameplay, Directed mode has successfully engaged a larger portion of the player base with the overarching narrative.

The Call of Duty Zombies storyline, spanning back to World at War, has grown increasingly complex over time. Despite a decline in the overall Black Ops 6 player base, the Zombies mode retains a dedicated community. However, the focus on upgrading weapons and surviving waves often overshadows story progression.

Introduced in Season 1, Directed mode has dramatically increased main quest completion. Data from 480 million hours of gameplay reveals an increase from 4% to 8.23% completion rate—a near doubling—since the mode's November 14th launch. While Treyarch celebrates this success, they acknowledge that over 90% of players still haven't finished the main quest and are committed to further improvements.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Directed Mode: A Significant Storyline Enhancement

Included in Season 1 alongside new maps and game modes, Directed mode provides structured guidance through the intricate Zombies storyline. The narrative, encompassing interdimensional travel and complex physics, can be challenging for newcomers. Unlike previous installments, Directed mode actively assists players in following the plot.

This structured approach is expected to significantly improve main quest completion rates. Treyarch plans to continue refining both the Zombies mode and Directed mode in future updates, aiming for even higher completion numbers.
