Alan Wake 2 Tops 2 million Sales and Finally Starts Turning a Profit

by Camila Mar 15,2025

Alan Wake 2's global sales have surpassed two million copies. This follows the impressive 1.3 million copies sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period that saw the game become Remedy's fastest-selling title. Remedy's latest financial report attributes this milestone, along with the release of The Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, to the game achieving profitability, beginning to accrue royalties after recouping development and marketing costs.

Looking ahead, Remedy revealed that Control 2, developed in partnership with Annapurna, is nearing completion of its pre-production phase and will enter full production by the end of February 2025. Simultaneously, the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake continues to make steady progress in its full production phase.

Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, remains in full production following a successful closed technical test in December. This test involved external players evaluating matchmaking and backend services. While a release date is yet to be announced, FBC: Firebreak, a self-published title by Remedy, is slated for release later in 2025.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's strategic direction and projected targets.

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 awarded the game a 9/10, praising it as a superb survival horror sequel that significantly surpasses its predecessor.
