Tute: A Popular Spanish Card Game
Tute is a beloved card game enjoyed throughout Spain and Latin America. It's played by 2 to 5 players individually, or in teams of two (for four players).
The objective is to be the first player or team to reach a predetermined point total. A standard Spanish deck of 40 cards is used.
Card values, highest to lowest, are: Ace (11 points), 3 (10 points), King (4 points), Knight (3 points), Jack (2 points), 7, 6, 5, 4, and 2 (these last cards are "white cards" and have no point value).
Gameplay involves following suit. The first card played establishes the leading suit; subsequent players must follow suit if possible. If a player lacks cards in the leading suit, they may play any card, including a trump card. The highest trump card always wins the trick. If no trump cards are played, the highest card of the leading suit wins.
Strategic plays like "Sing 20" and "Sing 40" can boost your score. Mastering the "Sing Tute" maneuver is key to victory!
