Lies of P: Overture DLC Unrelated to Ending

by Hunter Dec 20,2025

Since the "Lies of P: Overture" DLC was announced, fans have been speculating about its potential mysteries. At last week's Game Developers Conference, IGN confirmed at least one secret the DLC won't address: the base game's shocking final cutscene twist.

For those who haven't completed Lies of P, here’s a spoiler-free summary: The ending cutscene hints at the future direction of the Lies of P universe. This unexpected turn of events has sparked fan theories about its implementation and whether the DLC will provide answers. However, director Jiwon Choi confirmed this scene is unrelated to the DLC, stating only: "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

Neowiz has already announced a full sequel to Lies of P, making it likely this cutscene connects to that project. While details about Lies of P 2 remain scarce, Choi declined to share any hints during our discussion.

"I can assure you that when we share news or media assets, we'll be fully prepared to present them," Choi explained. "This reflects our commitment to quality despite past pressures. That's my promise: when we release content or announcements, we'll be ready."

The scene in question features Paracelsus on the phone, vowing to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The shot then reveals Dorothy's iconic striped socks and ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, suggesting future connections to public domain fairy tales. While we still don't know how or why this will unfold, we now know it won't be part of Overture.

We did gather some hints about the DLC's content. Choi suggests replaying the base game while awaiting Overture, as it contains scattered clues about upcoming developments:

"When you replay the base game, you'll notice many hints and world-building elements we've incorporated," Choi revealed. "These will become apparent in the expansion... Many ideas I originally envisioned for the base game, including key elements, will appear in the DLC."

He added that some fans are already deciphering Neowiz's clues, noting that he regularly reads online theories and finds "some of them are quite close."

We also learned the DLC will take experienced players approximately 15-20 hours to complete. It becomes accessible after reaching a specific chapter and remains available until the game's conclusion. As previously announced, the DLC serves as a prequel where the protagonist travels back in time to Krat before its collapse. It will introduce new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi preferred to keep specific details under wraps until release.
