In NieR: Automata, players are treated to a diverse arsenal of weapons, each with its own unique characteristics and origins. Among these, the Engine Blade stands out as a fan-favorite, especially for those familiar with Square Enix’s other franchises. Originally wielded by Noctis in Final Fantasy XV, this iconic weapon makes an appearance in NieR: Automata, offering both nostalgia and power.
Where To Find The Engine Blade In NieR: Automata
The Engine Blade is hidden within the factory, but it isn’t available immediately after the game's introduction. To obtain it, you must revisit the area later in the game as 2B. Alternatively, you can use Chapter Select mode to jump directly to Chapter 9 for a quicker retrieval. Begin by fast traveling to or starting from the Factory: Hangar Access point, located midway through the factory.Exiting the access point room, follow the path to the right, where the camera shifts to a 2D perspective. Run past a fenced-off section and ascend broken stairs onto a conveyor belt lined with boxes. Cross the next conveyor belt carefully, avoiding the pressing machinery that can crush you, and leap onto the adjacent cylinder. Two spider-like enemies will spawn upon entry.
Take the door to the left to climb additional stairs, dodging explosive enemies descending from above. Midway through, you’ll encounter a section where the railing ends, and the platform extends toward the camera. Step forward to adjust the camera angle, initiating a 2D platforming sequence. Follow the presses to the left, culminating in a final chamber containing three chests. The Engine Blade resides in the chest to the left, while a locked chest sits on the right. Beware—more explosive enemies will drop from the ceiling as you approach the chest.
Engine Blade Basic Stats In NieR: Automata

This weapon can be upgraded four times, eventually featuring a light combo of seven attacks. However, obtaining these upgrades requires finding Masamune. Unlike the Iron Pipe, the Engine Blade boasts a narrower damage spread, providing players with a more predictable damage output—a preferable trait for those seeking consistency.
