NieR: Automata's opening introduces 2B's mission, granting access to a one-handed and a powerful two-handed sword, the Virtuous Treaty, after the initial melee combat. This weapon is temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable upon gaining free-roam access in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is located near your starting point after exiting the bunker. In the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To the left, you'll find a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, climbing the ruins to reach the main road. This path leads back towards the factory.

Descend into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point with stairs leading upwards. In this upper area, locate the destroyed bridge (where you fought the Goliath). The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge, ready to be retrieved.

Your discarded equipment from the prologue, including consumables, is also lootable just to the right of the sword.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata

  • Attack: 300-330
  • Combo: Light 2, Heavy 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-range attacks, inflicting significant damage on multiple enemies. Its attack speed is slower, however. Upgrades can potentially maximize its damage output, provided you adapt to its slower pace. Combining it with a faster weapon via a heavy attack during a combo mitigates its slow speed while still leveraging its high damage potential, though a full combo won't be achieved.
