Monster Hunter Rise: Trap Tool Guide

by Riley Mar 13,2025

While slaying monsters is undeniably fun in Monster Hunter Wilds, mastering the art of trapping is crucial for collecting every monster part needed for crafting powerful armor. This requires specific materials—Trap Tools—and knowing where to find them. Let's dive in.

Where to Get Trap Tools in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't explicitly guide you to Trap Tools, but for veterans of the series, this will feel familiar. You acquire Trap Tools by purchasing them from the Provisions Stockpiler NPC located at your Base Camp. Simply talk to him, browse his inventory, and you'll find Trap Tools available for 200 Zenny each. It's highly recommended to buy several, particularly if you're focused on farming specific monsters or aiming to capture every creature in the game.

Unlike other resources found in the wild, Trap Tools are exclusively available for purchase at the Base Camp.

How to Use Trap Tools

With your Trap Tools acquired, it's time to utilize them effectively. Combine them with a Net (using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or pair them with a Thunderbug Capacitor for a Shock Trap.

While both traps are effective, remember that certain monsters exhibit immunity to specific trap types. For example, Shock Traps are useless against Rey Dau, a lightning dragon naturally resistant to electrical shocks. In such cases, a Pitfall Trap is the better option.

It's also important to note that you can only carry one trap at a time, so use them strategically when the monster is vulnerable.

That's how you obtain and use Trap Tools in Monster Hunter Wilds. For more helpful tips and guides, be sure to check out The Escapist.
