Marvel Snap's Sudden Removal from App Stores Sparks Outrage

Developed by California-based Second Dinner and published by ByteDance's Nuverse, the popular mobile game Marvel Snap was unexpectedly removed from iOS and Android app stores on January 18, 2025. This removal, impacting other ByteDance apps like CapCut and Lemon8, left players frustrated and without warning.

While PC users can still access the game via Steam, mobile players are facing authorization issues and expressing significant anger. Second Dinner has publicly stated its surprise and is actively working to reinstate the game, assuring players via Platform X: "Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress."

The lack of prior notice is a major point of contention, particularly for those who continued making in-app purchases unaware of the impending ban. Interestingly, not all ByteDance games were affected; titles like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain accessible.

Prior to the ban, we discussed the recent addition of the Moonstone card, a powerful Ongoing archetype card expected to significantly impact gameplay. Moonstone's ability to copy the Ongoing effects of 1, 2, and 3-cost cards makes her a potentially game-changing addition due to the already substantial number of low-cost Ongoing cards currently available. Unlike many similar cards that primarily focus on power generation, Moonstone's passive effect allows for rapid power accumulation.
