Mai Shiranui has caused a huge surge of interest in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement as they return to the game to try out the latest addition to the roster: Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. Capcom's acclaimed fighting game, which has sold an impressive 4.4 million copies by December 31, 2024, has been criticized for its content updates, but the developers have recently delighted fans with the introduction of this new character.

Mai Shiranui marks the third fighter added in the second season, significantly boosting the game's popularity. On the day of her release, Street Fighter 6's peak concurrent players on Steam soared to over 63,000, a stark increase from the usual 24,000 to 27,000, marking the highest player count since May 2024.

Players with a Battle Pass can access Mai Shiranui. In the World Tour mode, fans can not only develop relationships with her but also learn her unique moves, which they can then test out in the Battle Hub. To further enhance the experience, a second costume inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been added to the game.

The excitement doesn't stop there. The Battle Hub also welcomes a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned figure in the fighting game community and a developer, available for players to challenge until March 10. Alongside these additions, Capcom has introduced new ranks and rewards in the Master League, enhancing the competitive aspect of Street Fighter 6.

To showcase Mai's skills, Capcom released a trailer highlighting her impressive techniques, further fueling the anticipation and engagement within the Street Fighter community.
