Larian Unveils New Subclasses in Baldur's Gate 3

Larian Studios has surprised fans by announcing a significant update to Baldur's Gate 3 in 2025, defying expectations that Patch 7 would be the final major update. This substantial update includes highly anticipated features like cross-play support and a photo mode, but the real head-turner is the introduction of twelve brand-new subclasses, each promising unique and exciting gameplay mechanics.

While details on four subclasses have already been revealed, let's delve into the remaining eight:

Oath of the Crown Paladin: This paladin subclass champions justice and societal well-being. Their signature ability, Divine Devotion, allows them to absorb incoming damage intended for allies, restoring their health in the process.

Arcane Archer: Blending martial skill with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer launches enchanted arrows with devastating effects. These arrows can blind, weaken, or even banish enemies to the Feywild until their next turn. Remarkably, missed shots can be redirected mid-flight to strike another enemy.

Drunken Master Monk: This unconventional monk incorporates alcohol into their fighting style. A signature move intoxicates opponents, leaving them disoriented while simultaneously enhancing the monk's own abilities. Using Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target unleashes a powerful attack dealing both physical and mental damage.

Swarmkeeper Ranger: Commanding the power of nature, the Swarmkeeper Ranger forms alliances with swarms of creatures. These swarms provide protection and aid in teleportation. In combat, they can deploy three distinct swarms: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions that knock back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters.
