Microids is bringing back the beloved 1994 action-adventure game, Little Big Adventure, with a remastered edition titled Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, launching on all major platforms this autumn. This updated version retains the original's charm while incorporating modern enhancements.
Developed by the rising studio 2.21 and published by Microids (currently working on a new Totally Spies game), Twinsen's Quest is a labor of love, especially considering the history of the original's developer, Adeline Software International. Founded in 1993 as a Delphine Software International subsidiary, Adeline, comprised largely of Infogrames alumni, created both Little Big Adventure and its sequel. Sadly, Adeline ceased operations following Delphine's liquidation in 2004.
Microids has unveiled a new trailer showcasing Twinsen's Quest's updated visuals and smoother gameplay. Key features include a captivating story with thought-provoking themes, refined level design, improved controls, an enhanced version of Twinsen's signature weapon, a fresh artistic style, and a new soundtrack composed by the original's Philippe Vachey, who also collaborated with Frederick Raynal (Infogrames' former lead programmer and Little Big Adventure's creator) on the Alone in the Dark series.
Little Big Adventure – Twinsen’s Quest: A Return to Twinsun
Set on the planet Twinsun, home to four harmonious species, the game's narrative unfolds when Dr. Funfrock's cloning and teleportation technology throws Twinsun into chaos. Players take on the role of Twinsen, embarking on an epic adventure filled with intricate puzzles and challenging enemies to overthrow Dr. Funfrock and restore peace to his oppressed world.
Following a 2011 GOG.com re-release (PC and Mac), and later Android and iOS ports, the revival of the Little Big Adventure franchise has been a long time coming. Hints of a new installment surfaced as early as 2021, thanks to announcements from 2.21 and co-creator Didier Chanfray (Time Commando). Now, their efforts culminate in Little Big Adventure – Twinsen's Quest, set to release later this year on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG).
