Becoming a Hollow in the Hollow Era
At the start of the game, you're introduced as a **Soul Spirit**. From here, you’re given a pivotal choice: become a **Shinigami** or a **Hollow**. If you decide to embrace your darker side, simply break all the links on your chain, and you’ll transform into a Hollow. Alternatively, since your chain is unstable, one link will automatically break every two minutes, so even if you do nothing, you’ll eventually become a Hollow naturally.

Warning: While playing as a Hollow may seem more appealing due to its unique aesthetic and lore, keep in mind that it often involves extensive grinding compared to the Shinigami route. To reach powerful forms like Vasto Lorde or Espada, expect to invest significant time and effort into repetitive tasks.
Hollow Progression in the Hollow Era
Once you’ve transformed into a Hollow, your next objective is evolving into a **Gillian**. This requires defeating other Hollows and consuming their body parts. At level 15, you can evolve into a Gillian, but starting at level 10, you gain access to a **Garganta gateway**, allowing entry into the **Hueco Mundo** dimension where hunting and devouring Hollows becomes much easier.
Keep in mind that being a Hollow makes you a target for both **Shinigami and rival Hollows**, which adds an extra layer of challenge not present when playing as a Soul Reaper.
Gillian Form in the Hallow Era
Upon becoming a Gillian, your primary task remains eliminating other Hollows while interacting with **Hollow Pillars** scattered throughout Hueco Mundo. As you accumulate enough Progression Points, you’ll be transported to your inner world, where you must defeat five Hollows. Complete this challenge three times to evolve into an **Adjucha**.

The Hollows in your inner world are significantly stronger than regular ones, so don’t be discouraged if you fail initially. You can retry this evolution process as many times as needed.
Adjucha Form in the Hollow Era
Now things really heat up! After transforming into an Adjucha, you have the option to progress either as a **Vasto Lorde** or an **Arrancar**. Let’s explore the Arrancar path first.

Arrancar Progression
To become an Arrancar, locate a **Crystal Bush** in Hueco Mundo. These appear randomly every 30–60 minutes (on average every 45 minutes), and interacting with them transforms you into an Arrancar. Once transformed, you gain the ability to teleport back to Hueco Mundo using a keybind.

At level 50, you can pursue obtaining your **Resurrección**, which will be covered later in this guide. Currently, Arrancars can only use **Kendo skills**, though future updates may expand available abilities.
Vasto Lorde Progression
If you prefer the Vasto Lorde path, continue defeating and consuming Hollows to earn Progression Points. Be cautious—if you die during this process, you lose 1% of your accumulated points, so play strategically.
Many players find themselves stuck as an Adjucha due to the demanding grind required to evolve further. To become a Vasto Lorde, you need **800 Progression Points**, earned per kill as follows:
- Hollow: 1 Point
- Gillian: 6 Points
- Adjucha: 4 Points
- Vasto Lorde: 8 Points
- Arrancar: 8 Points
- Espada: 10 Points
Vasto Lorde Form in the Hollow Era
Evolving into a Vasto Lorde is far more challenging than becoming an Arrancar. You must collect 800 race-specific Progression Points and gather all required **Hollow Items**, which drop randomly from defeated enemies. Here's a breakdown of essential Hollow items:
- Hollows: Back Fins (Epic, 5% drop chance, +1 HP regeneration), Fin Tail (Legendary, 1% drop chance, +1 Reiatsu regeneration and +1 Speed)
- Gillian: Back Spikes (Rare, 10% drop chance, +1 Reiatsu)
- Adjucha: Tail (Epic, 5% drop chance, +1 Speed), Single Horn (Uncommon, 25% drop chance, +1 Strength), Double Horn (Rare, 10% drop chance, +2 Strength), Triple Horn (Epic, 5%, +3 Strength)
- Vasto Lorde: Spiral Horn (Epic, 5% drop chance, +1 Reiatsu)
