League of Legends is set to reintroduce Hextech Chests following extensive feedback from its community. Dive into the details of the upcoming update and discover what's on the horizon for LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes
Hextech Chests Make a Comeback
League of Legends (LoL) has announced the return of Hextech Chests after a wave of fan feedback. Riot Games shared a comprehensive developer update on their website on February 27, 2025, and complemented it with a video on their YouTube channel, outlining the forthcoming changes.
In their statement, LoL admitted that recent adjustments did not resonate well with fans, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
The community's strong attachment to Hextech Chests was a key factor in their decision to bring them back. LoL noted, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Starting with patch 25.05, players will once again have the opportunity to earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two obtainable via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and More Fan-Driven Changes
Riot Games also announced the delay of the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, as the team aims to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, which will not feature in every Act this year as initially planned.
Responding to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence. This adjustment addresses concerns about the lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the saturation of champions within each seasonal theme.
In an effort to enhance player accessibility, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting from patch 25.05, following discussions about blue essence and champion shards.
Additionally, the developers have decided to revert their previous plan to reduce the frequency of Clash events. Clash will now return to a monthly schedule, with March’s event featuring ARURF, followed by a standard Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Responding to community requests, LoL will bring back the beloved Your Shop and Blue Essence Emporium. Your Shop is scheduled to return in patch 25.06, and the Emporium will follow in 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
With these responsive changes, Riot Games demonstrates their dedication to listening to their fans and adapting the game to meet their community's expectations. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Stay updated with the latest news on our League of Legends page.
