Genshin Impact Update: Leaks Hint at Upcoming Character Banner Rerun

Genshin Impact 5.4 Leak Hints at Wriothesley Rerun After Over a Year

A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's highly anticipated return in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, ending a wait of over a year since his initial appearance. This highlights the ongoing challenge Genshin Impact faces in balancing its ever-expanding roster of over 90 playable characters with the limited rerun slots available on Event Banners. Even assuming a single 5-star release per patch, the demand far outstrips supply, leaving many characters with extended wait times between reruns.

While the Chronicled Banner was introduced to address this issue, its effectiveness remains debated. Shenhe's extended absence (over 600 days) before her Version 5.3 rerun exemplifies this. Until the introduction of triple banners, players should anticipate prolonged waits.

Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, is a prime example. His unique Burnmelt team compositions offer significant damage potential, yet players haven't had a chance to obtain him since November 8, 2023. According to leaker Flying Flame, this drought will end with Version 5.4.

Potential for a Wriothesley Banner in Version 5.4

It's crucial to acknowledge Flying Flame's mixed track record regarding leaks. While they accurately predicted the Version 5.3 Chronicled Banner, other predictions proved inaccurate. Therefore, approach this information with caution. However, the recent Spiral Abyss buff does bolster Wriothesley's viability, lending some credence to the rumor.

Version 5.4 is also anticipated to feature Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley share the Event Banners, the remaining 5-star slot might feature either Furina or Venti, given the established pattern of Archon rerun sequencing. Version 5.4's projected launch date is February 12, 2025.
