RGG Studio Says Their Next Title Will Be ‘Surprising’ -----------------------------------------------------Another Surprising Shift?
During the third day of this year's Anime Expo, held in Los Angeles, California, Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio hosted the "Essence of Fandom: Like a Dragon & Yakuza Experience." The event was led by host Linda “VampyBitMe” Le, with special guests Like a Dragon Chief Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto and the voice actor for Ichiban Kasuga, Kazuhiro Nakaya.
At the event, studio representatives tantalized attendees with hints about their upcoming game, stating, "We can’t tell you what kind of game it is, but I will tell you, you’ll be surprised." This tease was captured and shared by user @TheYakuzaGuy on Twitter, who confirmed that the studio described it as a new entry in the Like a Dragon series.
The surprise factor is already high, considering the seventh mainline game in the series transformed into a full-fledged JRPG, deviating from the traditional action beat ‘em up style. This new "surprising" entry could potentially be anything from a rhythm game centered around the beloved karaoke mini-game, a spin-off spotlighting other series characters, or even a remake or sequel to past spin-offs like Yakuza: Dead Souls or the Japan-exclusive Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan.
