Capcom's Recent Spotlight Unveils Exciting Game Updates

Capcom recently held a Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, revealing significant updates for several titles. Key announcements include new details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and extensive information on Monster Hunter Wilds.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Edo Period Adventure

PlayLaunching in 2026, Onimusha: Way of the Sword promises compelling characters, a new protagonist, and engaging enemies within a historically accurate recreation of Kyoto. The game emphasizes visceral sword combat, challenging players without being overly difficult. The protagonist, through a twist of fate, will wield an Oni Gauntlet, fueled by the souls of defeated Genma.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny – Remastered for 2025

PlayA remastered version of the 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is slated for release in 2025, bridging the gap until Onimusha: Way of the Sword's arrival.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 – Arkveld Awaits

PlayThe second Open Beta for Monster Hunter Wilds introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging advanced quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, Private Lobbies, and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first beta can be transferred. The beta runs:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 9 at 6:59pm PT
  • Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 16 at 6:59pm PT

PlayCharacter data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress does not. Participants receive a special Pendant.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Threats

A new story trailer showcased the Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami (Leviathan), Nerscylla (Temnoceran), and Gore Magala. Further details on Arkveld were also revealed.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 – May 16th Release

PlayLaunching May 16th, 2025, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 includes Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.

Street Fighter 6 – Mai Shiranui Arrives February 5th
