The Bloodborne community's long-held desire for a remastered edition of the FromSoftware classic has reached fever pitch thanks to recent Instagram activity.
FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram posts stoke Bloodborne Remaster Hopes
A Beloved Title Deserving a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a fan favorite. Many players eagerly anticipate experiencing Yharnam's gothic world on modern consoles. Although no official announcement has been made, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram accounts featuring Bloodborne imagery have ignited a wave of speculation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One image featured Djura, a hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others depicted the player character exploring Yharnam's heart and the Charnel Lane graveyards.
While these posts might simply be a nostalgic look back, dedicated Bloodborne fans on platforms like Twitter (X) are meticulously analyzing every detail, searching for hints of a remaster. The timing is particularly intriguing, especially given a similar post by PlayStation Italia on August 17th.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location from a series of images. The comments section is filled with passionate pleas for a Yharnam return, with some humorously suggesting a PC or modern console release as the most iconic location.
The Hunt for a Modern Bloodborne Continues: Almost a Decade Later
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has cultivated a devoted fanbase, earning widespread critical acclaim and recognition as one of gaming's greatest titles. Despite this, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans point to the 2020 Demon's Souls remake as a potential precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, concerns linger about the potential wait. Given Demon's Souls' over-a-decade-long journey to a remake, fears exist that Bloodborne might face a similar delay. As the game approaches its tenth anniversary, the anticipation is palpable.
In a February interview with Eurogamer, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted at the potential benefits of remastering the game for modern hardware, stating that increased accessibility for players is a key factor.
While Miyazaki's comments offer hope, the final decision rests with Sony, not FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, which FromSoftware fully publishes, Bloodborne's IP rights remain with Sony. Miyazaki has previously stated that he's not in a position to comment on the game's future.
Bloodborne's passionate community continues to hope for a remaster. Despite its success, Sony has yet to bring the game to platforms beyond PS4. Whether these recent speculations will translate into reality remains to be seen.
