The Armadillo, a passive mob introduced in Minecraft's 1.20.5 "Armored Paws" update, is found across various warm biomes. Its tough scutes are a key ingredient in crafting Wolf Armor. Here's how to obtain these essential scutes.
How to Get Armadillo Scutes in Minecraft
Armadillos inhabit warm biomes, spawning in groups of two or three. However, they'll defensively curl into a ball if approached too quickly. Approach slowly and cautiously to avoid this.
These are the biomes to explore: Badlands, Eroded Badlands, Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Windswept Savanna, and Wooded Badlands.
There are two methods for collecting Armadillo Scutes:
Method 1: Patience and Waiting
Similar to collecting chicken eggs, an Armadillo will drop a single scute every 5-10 minutes. This requires no tools or effort, but can be a slow process, especially if you need many scutes for multiple sets of armor.
Method 2: Brushing
This more efficient method uses a crafted Brush. While often used to investigate sand or gravel, a Brush gently collects one scute per use on an Armadillo.
In the Java Edition, a fully durable, unenchanted Brush can be used four times before breaking; in Bedrock Edition, it's five times. Damaged Brushes can be repaired by combining two at a crafting table or anvil (enchanted brushes retain enchantments when repaired on an anvil).
Brushes can be enchanted with Unbreaking, Mending, and Curse of Vanishing.
To craft a Brush, combine a Feather, Copper Ingot, and Stick in the center three slots of a crafting table (Feather on top, Copper Ingot in the middle, Stick on the bottom).
Approach Armadillos slowly, avoid triggering their defensive roll, and use the brush to collect scutes. The number of scutes you gather will depend on the number of brushes you've crafted.

Once you've collected six scutes (enough for one suit of Wolf Armor), craft the armor at a crafting table.
Whether you choose patience or the brushing method, these are the current ways to obtain Armadillo Scutes and craft valuable Wolf Armor in Minecraft.
