Through extensive testing, we’ve cracked the code to conquer all three Arata stages in GHOUL://RE. While they don’t demand advanced gaming prowess or extensive exploration, they’re far from simple, requiring significant Reputation grinding. Prepare for an intense grind!
Arata Stage 1 in GHOUL://RE
Start by earning 25,000 Reputation points and reaching the top rank of Special Investigator within the C.C.G. organization. Next, head to the Commission of Counter Ghoul (C.C.G. center) and speak with the NPC wearing headphones, Damiro D. Mado, on the second floor. He’ll assign the Arata Stage 1 quest, tasking you with collecting 10 one-eyed fragments and 10 Kokuja fragments.

The quickest method is defeating bosses like Eto and Tatara, shown below, and crafting the fragments at a workstation. To check your Reputation, visit the NPC in a black suit, Saiyo Natsuki, who will provide your total. Once you’ve gathered all 20 fragments, convert them into five one-eyed Kokuja fragments at the crafting table. Struggling with bosses? Refer to our GHOUL://RE boss and raid guide to gain the upper hand.

Return to Damiro, who will direct you to speak with “him.” This caused confusion in the GHOUL://RE community, as “he” was unclear. Turns out, “he” is none other than Black Reaper of Doom and Despair, hiding in plain sight.
For convenience, check our guide on all NPC locations in GHOUL://RE to locate them effortlessly.
Arata Stage 2 in GHOUL://RE
For Arata Stages 2 and 3, you must play in permadeath mode to unlock the legendary armor. We recommend teaming up with reliable allies, as solo missions can be frustrating.
Once you’ve amassed 100,000 Reputation points, take the elevator in the C.C.G. building to the Laboratory. Speak with the scalpel-wielding NPC in a black suit, Black Reaper of Doom and Despair, standing by the door.

Hand over five one-eyed Kokuja fragments with 100,000 Reputation to complete Stage 2 and unlock Arata-Proto armor. Rumors online suggested 75,000 Reputation might suffice, but our tests confirm 100,000 Reputation points guarantees success.
Some players report needing 90,000 to 100,000 Reputation, but we advise aiming for 100,000 Reputation points for certainty.
As noted, Stages 2 and 3 must be played on PD servers. Otherwise, the Black Reaper will reject your progress, blocking completion of Stage 2 and access to Stage 3.

The final stage involves “The Scalpel Guy,” additional fragments, and a substantial payment. Like Stage 2, you must play in PD mode to advance toward the epic armor.
Collect a single one-eyed Kakuja fragment and save 500,000 Yen. Visit Black Reaper of Doom and Despair in the C.C.G. building, pay the fee, and he’ll teleport you to face the Kishou Arima boss.
Defeating this boss requires solid gaming skills, including jumping, dodging, blocking, and dealing heavy damage. While challenging, Kishou Arima is beatable with practice, even for average players.

Expect potential defeats during this fight and come prepared with ample resources. Each retry requires another one-eyed Kakuja fragment and 500,000 Yen, so stock up to avoid setbacks.
Upon defeating Kishou Arima, you’ll unlock Stage 3 Arata-Proto armor. While this armor grants impressive buffs and protection, it comes with drawbacks, detailed below.
Arata Armor Strategies & Insights
Arata-Proto Armor Benefits
Arata is a formidable armor, but it rapidly depletes your hunger while equipped. You cannot eat while wearing it, so you’ll need to remove Arata to restore hunger levels.
Despite these challenges, the armor’s advantages are significant. Notably, you’re immune to ragdolling while wearing Arata, a game-changing benefit across all scenarios.

Arata enhances your durability, making your character exceptionally resilient and capable of dishing out massive damage. If hunger runs out during combat, the armor will drain your health bar. Remove it during critical moments to recover and stay in the fight.
Reputation Grinding Tips
To quickly accumulate the required Reputation, take on bosses in PD mode. Each boss defeated in PD yields 1,500 Reputation, far surpassing the 500 from non-PD kills. Killing Ghouls only grants 100 Reputation per kill, making them inefficient for Arata quests.
